Speaker Bios
Amanda Dufault, BScFN
Amanda has her Honours Bachelor of Science in Foods & Nutrition: Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics from Brescia University College. She is currently completing her Masters of Science in Foods & Nutrition, Internship Stream. Her research with Dr. Madill is focusing on the prevalence of sarcopenia in “healthy” versus institutionalized elderly adults.
Amanda was actively involved with BUCSC, Sophing, SHEA, ACHES and Flag Football during her undergrad.
Michelle Anstey, MSc
Michelle is a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator for Inovata Foods Corporation in Tillsonburg, Ontario. She holds her Bachelors of Science in Foods & Nutrition: Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics from Brescia University College, and Masters of Science in Cellular Biology from McMaster University.
Michelle’s responsibilities with Inovata includes ensuring accurate and legal information on all food packaging, working with Research and Development on hitting nutritional targets for proposed new recipes, running the Sensory program to ensure consistent and high quality output on daily production as well as managing all product formulations and ingredient specifications.
Kendall Chambers, MScFN, RD
Kendall is a Public Health Dietitian with the Elgin St. Thomas Public Health Unit. She completed her Masters of Science in Foods & Nutrition at Brescia University College. In addition to her BScFN, she also holds an Honours Bachelor of Science: Double Major in Biology and Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
Before joining the Public Health Unit, Kendall spent a year working in a diabetes education centre.
Sara Perlmutter, MS, RD
Sara is a Registered Dietitian who works privately for MedPoint Health Centre and GoodLife Fitness. Sara holds her Masters of Science in Dietetics from D’Youville College (Buffalo, New York) and her Honours Bachelor of Science in Foods & Nutrition: Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics.
Since starting her career as a dietitian, Sara has become actively involved as a nutrition educator with the Canadian Diabetes Association, steering committee member with Hypertension Canada, and most recently, a Brescia mentor.
Barhet Woldemariam, BA
Barhet is a Project Coordinator with Canadian Mental Health Alliance (CMHA) Middlesex working on the Homes 4 Women program in London. Barhet holds her Bachelor of Arts in Cross-Disciplinary Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Scoio-Cultural Anthropology from Western University.
Barhet has also worked with London CAReS and TD Canada Trust.
Lisa Haagsma, BA
Lisa has spent the last 8 years teaching with the Thames Valley District School Board. She holds her Bachelor of Arts in English: Double Major in English Literature and Family Studies from Brescia University College.
Lisa was fortunate to find a career that combined her love of cooking with her love for inspiring others. Prior to becoming a teacher, Lisa held positions with London Life, the Lamplighters Inns, and Canada Post.
Ashley Jackson, MSW
Ashley Jackson is a social worker at the Children's Aid Society of London and Middlesex. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the Sociology of Law, Crime and Deviance from Brescia University College and Masters of Social Work from Wilfred Laurier University as well as well as a Child and Youth Worker Diploma from Lambton College. Ashley’s Masters degree specialized in individuals, families and groups.
Lauren Giugno, MA
Lauren is a counselor in Psychological Services at Western University providing mental health support for Western students. She holds an Honours Specialization degree in Psychology from Brescia University College and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Western University.
Throughout her schooling, Lauren volunteered at various mental health agencies in London and completed placements with London Health Sciences Centre and Western University.
Jason Eaton, PHEc
Jason is the Head Chef with the Market Quality Preserves social enterprise of Youth Opportunities Unlimited. He holds a Bachelor of Arts: Double Major in History and Family Studies with Western University.
Jason is an active member of the Ontario Home Economics Association and was actively involved with SHEA during his undergrad. He also works as a freelance Professional Home Economist working with clients such as the City of London, YMCA, Weber Grills and Carib Lager USA.
